Denise Chen, a senior at Claremont High in California, took third in the Division 2 girls final by covering the 5-kilometer layout in 17:46.5 at Woodward Park in Fresno at the CIF State Cross Country Championships. Chen helped Claremont finish fourth with 162 points.
